Are Demos all but over?

Whenever a game comes out, so few of them even have demos anymore.WTF? I like to know how the game isl before buying it.I always take in consideration: magazine reviews, general community comments, and DEMOS!!Damn these developers! They already spent a fortune making the game, what's a bit more? Are Demos all but over?
Yeah its pretty dumb. They still make demos for consoles, but not for PC. And then they blame the pirates for ''torrenting their game just to try it out''. Well jee... maybe if you released a demo... one less excuse, and probably less downloads of your game. Are Demos all but over?
Yeah, I think we need more demos.

+1
I think it's because the marketing goons would rather save the money spent on developing a demo and either spit ads out every direction, or make their respective companies' stock price go up .001 cents per share.
Anyone remember the good ol days of epic online demos? Like 1942, BF2, and others?
I agree bring back demoes. I think its cause of money issues and size of files. Inmagine downloading gigs for a demo that's wasn't worth wasting bandwidth.

QFT. I remember when I got my first gaming PC, I didn't even buy a game for a month or so, because I just played all the awesome demos.
O yea well I onece bought a sound card that came with 5 full games :p
Demos can persuade you not to buy a game. The force of curiosity probably drives more sales than people that are pleased with a demo.
Silly trend if you ask me, bring back PC demos! :(
Demos can persuade you not to buy a game. The force of curiosity probably drives more sales than people that are pleased with a demo.
I somehow doubt demo's will stop impulse buyers. Someone who throws his money around so easily won't likely install demo's.
Plenty of games have demos...probably around the same ratio as back in the day.''They already spent a fortune making the game, what's a bit more?''/facepalm
