KONAMI officially announced that MGS: Rising is coming to PC

now thats something to cry about of happiness  :DKONAMI officially announced that MGS: Rising is coming to PC
if they cut down on the cutscenes then i might take a look. i havent liked a MGS since MGS on the PS1 though.

also i hope the plot makes more sense. I downloaded the story thingy from PSN and i just burst out laughing. the bit i was reading (something to do with revolver ocelot living in his hand only...and then taking over someone elses body or something crazy like that) was rediculous.KONAMI officially announced that MGS: Rising is coming to PC
i might get it for the pc instead of the 360
yay...
definitely getting this!!! thanks kojima!!! =D
Nice.
woohoo! Finally , once more, we'll be able to play one of the coolest platform stealth games.

If they did that it would just be watered down to appeal to more people. Its going to be hard to see another good franchise go casual. And its a science fiction game of course things are going to be unrealistic relative to our world. Its the creator's imagination.

Oh and that part you read was a cover story that was revealed later in the game.
MGS1 is the only truly great MGS game, and Raiden is a pansy, so I'm not sure I care. Nice to see the PC being supported, though. I wonder if it'll be playable with a keyboard and mouse.
Is this game going to be a Tactical Espionage game like the previous MGS games or is it going to be a different genre ?
I'm hoping for that too. Aiming using the mouse in games is just pure bliss.
We'll unless its a horrible port I know what platform to buy it on.
YAY, thank you Kojima i really thank you.
a year after the consoles version comes out?
I would prefer MGS4 but it's better than nothing, I suppose.
Why are we drooling over a MGS game that doesn't even include Solid Snake and promises to be a mediocre port?

Because it's always good to have more games to play. Let's just be optimistic that this'll be a good port like DMC4 was.

I am definitely gonna buy this game.

He is asking about the best PC game ever.It depends upon your taste. Some will say GTA 4 is the best game and some will say Far Cry and some will say some other game is the best game so it depends upon your personal taste.

As far as I am concerned I would say GTA 4 is the best PC game.

Yes it does look like fun..... how the hell can he shoot a rocket launcher from a parachute.....lol.....Just Cause 2 looks awesome! *10-min gameplay*
Looks way better than the first one, I hope the enemy AI is smarter too. ;)

Yes, it will be a great game.
    lol... That was marvelous.

Yeah the grappling hook looks a lot of fun to use.Makes you feel like a superhero with guns and loose physics!
When I played the demo for the first game I knew this generation had begun. This is the sort of gameplay Lost Planet should have had.
First one was awesome, pretty and extremely underrated :D
Everything looks good, except for the indicator on the upper left, which keeps showing increasing stats, that somehow takes the immersion out for me. Just a pet peeve, but it looks fantastic.
    Looks great.
Like the first game, it looks entirely too easy. It does look kind of fun though so I'll keep an eye on it.

I remember that's what was said about the first one as well, that they were just playing on easy or something to show off the game, and it turned out the game was a complete cakewalk.
It looks way better than Just Cause 1.

Can't wait to play that game.

Well, I think I am experiencing my first major bug. I am just returning from lab x16 to give the documents to barkeep...only thing is...Duty HATES me. Soon as I enter I get fired upon. Don't remember firing even by accident, but is there way to resolve this? it's quite annoying having to kill EVERYONE in the city to turn in a quest.

The Sims 3 - What Are Your Views?

I was tired when I got home last night, but I wanted to see The Sims 3 in action so I installed the game at 11:30 p.m. and played for about an hour.I can see that this game is going to be much more goal oriented than the previous two sim games, because of the Lifetime Wish, which is a single wish that each sim will strive to fulfill in their lifetime - I didn't get into it much, but it looks fairly interesting, and something that will make the game feel much more gamey. The Everyday Wishes also seem to push you in a certain direction, making each day feel slightly more goal oriented. Because I only played for an hour I didn't get the opportunity to check out how well the other new concepts are working (namely, the Moodlets, the Lifetime Happiness thing, or the slightly re-worked Careers model... my sim doesn't have a job yet, and I haven't even looked at the new Career Panel) but it all looks interesting enough. The one thing I will say is that, at first, The Sims 3 feels exactly like The Sims 2, except that you're playing on a lot that's humongous.Up until now, we've been restrained to playing on our own lot, so it's weird looking out the window, and seeing all these houses around you, with other sims in them. I don't think it quite registers in your mind how big of a change this actually is. You feel like you're playing The Sims 2 - but of course you're not.For example: I dislike what the houses around me look like, so the first thing I'm going to do is destroy them, and do what I've always wanted to do, which is to create an entire neighborhood of my own creation - you can do that in The Sims 2 as well, of course, but all of the houses are on separate lots, and whenever you're on one lot, the others you've created are all rendered in 2D and you can't walk over to them. In this game you can. I'm going to create a very dense housing project and fill it up with the most dysfunctional people on the face of the planet. But like I said, I only played for an hour, and didn't get to see much. But I can see that there's obviously a tremendous amount of potential here.Graphically, The Sims themselves look much more modern, but here's my one complaint: the rest of it just sucks. The graphics for the town are god-awful. I feel, at times, like I'm playing a game from 4 years ago. I realize that the developer had to make this game work on a range of computers, but honestly I think that they could've improved the visuals A LOT. And here's the real kicker: on my Core i7 920, with its GTX 275, the game will chug along when my sim starts running down the sidewalk - the system performance can be horrible at times. I'm guessing that the reason for this is that all of the other sims around you are being simulated, so the computer is struggling to keep up. I'll bet that this is a processor thing. But again, the saving grace here, is that the sims themselves look better, and that you can destroy some of those ugly buildings around you, and build your own.Overall, then, from one hour of playing, the gameplay looks to be much improved, but the graphics, for the most part, kind of suck - a bit disappointing in that regard, really. I'll post back later when I've had a chance to really sit down and play the game in earnest. The Sims 3 - What Are Your Views?
I think I'll wait a year or two for the inevitable ''Sims 3 Super Triple Deluxe Edition'' to come out.The Sims 3 - What Are Your Views?
I planned on buying it until i saw they omitted content from the game just to make you pay real money on top of the 50 bucks you spent for the game. EA's money grubbing ways just never end.
I brought the manual to work with me and am sitting here in the lunch room reading it.I had no idea that the sims themselves are so much more complex than their Sims 2 counterparts. For example: when you create your own sim (last night I selected a pre-rolled sim, which is why I missed out in seeing all of this) you choose from four individual traits - Mental, Physical, Social, and Lifestyle. Each of these traits contains a long list, and from each of the four lists you choose just one of them. For example, the Mental trait's list is as follows:Absent mindedArtisticBookwormCan't Stand ArtComputer WhizExcitableGenuisGreen ThumbHandyInsaneNatural CookNeuroticVirtuosoYou choose one from that list, and then you choose a single one from each of the other three lists (Physical, Social, and Lifestyle).I could, for example, create a sim that's Insane (mental), Hydrophobic (physical), Inappropriate (social) and Kleptomaniac (lifestyle) - and maybe pair that sim with a room-mate who is Excitable, Unlucky, Grumpy, and Childish. Or I could do the opposite of that and create a sim who's Artistic, Neat, Charismatic, and Good. There's a multitude of combinations. It'll be interesting to see how all of this pans out when you factor in that each of these sims will have a Lifetime Wish, and that together they're all going to grow old, get, jobs, have kids, and die. I wonder what would happen if I were to create an entire neighborhood of dysfunctional sims (say, Excitable, Slob, Dislikes Children, and Evil people) and watch them all live their lives' in proximity of one another? I wonder how they would interact, and what their kids might end up being like?Like, I said, I haven't actually seen any of this play out - but, at least on paper, it's incredibly promising. Really, it's not like The Sims 2 at all. This game is much deeper. I'm going to have to spend more time on this.
    Most torrent hits of 2009.
I've never been able to conjure interest in a game that has nothing remarkable to offer.
I actually bothered to try this. This is still the most dull and boring game I've ever played. It's more fun to move a cursor on the screen.
My intention was to start a thread in which people who are actually playing The Sims 3 might post their comments about it - if you haven't played the game, or if this type of game just doesn't appeal to you, then would you please not post in this thread. Thanks. :)

Although I haven't played the game, my feelings are that a lot of people don't realize how big of a change it is to have everything there, instead of things seperated into different loaded areas. To me this just seems like it will make the game much more enjoyable. Also I'm not sure why people are mad that they stripped away content.. everyone knows.. or should've known that they were going to do this so that they could release expansions.

I'm having a blast with it so far. Not sure how people consider this game to be The Sims 2.5 with all the new features added and moving the focus away from your Sims to the entire neighborhood. To me this is what The Sims 2 should have been instead of it being a version of The Sims 1 put into 3D. The Sims series has never been for everyone though, but it amazes me how people who have hated the Sims still go out and buy a copy then come onto the boards complaining about how horrible it is. That makes no sense to me.

My opinion is mixed. I'm having a performance issue with scrolling on a fast PC. I recently made a thread about this earlier today. Other than that, I like it. The world feels more active and alive, and I can create a more fluid story for my character. So far I rose to the top of the criminal career, and bought out several businesses, have a hot wife, I bang the maid, I bang half the neighbors when my wife is working.Twisted and sneaky, just the way I like it.

hmmm strange........maybe just have a fiddle with all the different graphics settings for a while and see if anything improves it....that's all I can think of because if your getting 120+ Frames in some areas in shouldn't really lag in others....sorry I couldn't help
Oddly enough I had similar issues with the very first game back in the day. Game played fine, but scrolling was slow as molasses.
Check in the ATI control center and see if you have adaptive anti-alising turned on, if so turn it off as ive heard alot of people having issues with this
[This message was deleted at the request of the original poster]
i have the same problem. im getting good frame rate when the camera is still. but whenever i scroll in and out it skips and hiccups so bad, i see texture pop up just like how gears of war.
yeah same problem it is very annoying
Core i7 920, GTX 275, VISTA 64 - at 1680*1050 (with all sliders maxed)It's annoying.I can't turn the camera around 360 degrees without the game stuttering and skipping - it's not a frame-rate issue though. I've noticed, as well, that when my Sims pick up the pace, and start running somewhere, or if they hop in a cab, that the game really starts stuttering. This is why I'm walking my character to locations.I can only assume that this is a processor thing, since every single sim, all around, is being simulated. I tried building a massive housing complex in The Sims 2 one time, on a single lot, and this is exactly what happened. Here in The Sims 3 it's not intolerable... and I am starting to get used to it... but I wish that it were a lot smoother. That said, it's pretty incredible what EA has done here. The entire game is taking place on one massive lot, with every blasted sim being simulated. It's just awesome. I'm two days in now, and I'm only just beginnning to see how much depth there is here.Right now I'm taking over the sea-side, and am filling all the waterfront properties with my own sims, and my own housing developments. It's awesome. Everyone's getting to know on another, and everyone's using everyone else's stuff - THIS is what I had wanted to do in The Sims 2 and couldn't.
Think of it as a RTS game. Once you browse through the whole map, the stuttering will decrease.
    Same here..
I have no idea why I thought that The Sims 3 wasn't that much better looking than The Sims 2 - I can see now that it's much better looking. (maxed out, that is)I've finally figured out that the best camera angle (at least for me) is having the camera right down on the ground, as low as it will go, and then tilting it so that it's perfectly horizontal - playing this way makes me feel almost as though I'm playing a 3'rd person RPG. What's amazing is that you can then use the < and > keys to rotate the camera around your sim (when your sim is selected, of course). You can see for at least a quarter of a mile ahead of you, and then it really begins to dawn on you, that the scope of this game is so much greater than The Sims 2.(Also, playing with the camera down low like that seems to have caused the stuttering to happen less frequently - I'm now walking my characters everywhere. It's fascinating.)Honestly, I have no idea how anybody (who's actually played this game) can even remotely compare The Sims 3 with either of its predecessors. This isn't a baby step here, it's a giant leap forward. It's only now that I'm really starting to get excited about this.
The other thing I was wondering about was system heat.Where I live, we're experiencing a heat wave. My 3 month old computer (core i7 920, GTX 275) has never ramped up its fans the way it has while I've been playing The Sims 3. I'm wondering if it's the game, or if it's this heat wave we're having?I was playing Far Cry 2 last night, and the fans didn't ramp up at all, so it must be The Sims 3, right? Anybody else experiencing this?(And by the way, the reason I'm posting this here is that at the Official Sims 3 forum posts are falling off the board at a ridiculous rate - it's shocking how many people are posting comments over there. You post a comment, and then five minutes later your comment is on page 5, lost in a sea of posts. I've never seen a board experience so much traffic - even Bethesda's forum wasn't that busy on the day of Fallout 3's release, and that day was crazy.)

    I hate MMO games

Why are publishers pushing these games so hard? Now they are developing KOTOR MMO so instead of a gripping, dramatic story full of twists and turns I get to play with characters like Left Nutz and Right Nutz who are l33t and will pwn my a55. Look, I play computer games because I don't like to play with people, same reason I read books and watch movies (more interesting than people). If... if I play multiplayer games, it's either some tactical shooter where you get the benefits of intelligence without the drawbacks of personality or Second Life where you don't really 'play' anything.

im going to jump on the MMO-hate train...
It's all about the money. Developers will start to consider single-player gamers a niche market in comparison to how much more money they make with MMOs.

There should be tools for rapid and cheap development of games, so that niche games wouldn't be financial suicide for the developers. That way when they get a great story and a great concept, they can go ahead and make a good game without dumbing it down for the widest market possible.

I like Bohemia Interactive Studio with their Operation Flashpoint / Armed Assault as well as Paradox Interactive with Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron and Victoria. Those are really awesome niche games that weren't designed with idiots in mind and it would be great if there were more companies and games like these.

That way when they get a great story and a great concept, they can go ahead and make a good game without dumbing it down for the widest market possible.I agree that there should be easier routes to make any game in particular but that changes the minute you make it MMO. Making a game tools when it's SP, that's one thing; making that game MP now brings in more things to worry (netcode anyone? balance comes to mind); and then when you set forth to make an MMO game, you have a host to consider. And with these cheaper tools, anyone with a bit of money will start putting out their kind...kinda like you see now with all the free (but buy the cool stuff online for real money...yeah, let's legalize gold farming) web based ones.
Why are publishers pushing these games so hard?
Even the relatively unsuccessful ones can make a lot of money.
MMOs could be a lot more than they are right now.
MMOs could be a lot more than they are right now.
i agree i think mmo games have a great potential that they havent even begin to really tap into yet... in the next few years gaming is going to be introduced to every mmo you can think of...mmo/fpsmmo/rpg mmo/tpsmmo/strategymmo/actionmmo/mmo lol
MMOs could be a lot more than they are right now.
The problem I have with MMOs is that there are other people playing with/against me. I don't see playing games as a social activity but I'm being gradually forced into it because everything is going online MP these days...

MMOs could be a lot more than they are right now.
The problem I have with MMOs is that there are other people playing with/against me.
Why are publishers pushing these games so hard? Now they are developing KOTOR MMO so instead of a gripping, dramatic story full of twists and turns I get to play with characters like Left Nutz and Right Nutz who are l33t and will pwn my a55. Look, I play computer games because I don't like to play with people, same reason I read books and watch movies (more interesting than people).
lol, it's hard to find such liked mind:) I love humanity, but not people.however, I don't hate mmo games; I still get my share of SP games to play. If one day PC gaming is gone totally MMO, that'll be the day I stop playing new released games. I still won't *hate* MMO. I just don't touch it. and mutually left alone.
yeah id prefer a singleplayer isntead i dont hate mmo i ignore them dont like wasting my time with leveling up without meaining!
I also have very, very, very little interest in any MMO gaming. If you're specifically disappointed that the next KOTOR is going to an MMO, that's one thing, however, generally it seems to me there are puhlenty of SP games.Continue to speak with your wallet!! Support the games you'd like to see. If you and I get ''out-voted'' then maybe we have no choice, however, there are still some very fundamental problems that MMO gaming needs to overcome to appeal to everyone. Personally, I'm hardly concerned ;) let the market saturate.
when WoW dies off mmo's will become alot better. almost every mmo that has come out recently has pretty much just copied wow.
i am personally looking forward to Kotor being an mmo... knights of the old republic spans several thousand years.. it doesnt have to be a sequel to kotor 1 and 2(which i played, beat and loved).... it can just be in the same universe.... star wars(including kotor) has great potential for a good mmo... just as long as they dont let someone else come in and ruin it.im looking forward to Huxley, i believe if done right it could be a sweet game..or this one hasnt been announced but would be pretty sweet... AvP mmo/fps... aliens vs. predator mmo/fps... with rpg elements that would be so freaking sweet...but hey to each their own.

Why are publishers pushing these games so hard?
Even the relatively unsuccessful ones can make a lot of money.
[singsong]Bingo![/singsong]It's all about money. Publishers have found that MMOs are more lucrative, so that's what they're backing. Plain and Simple. It's unfortunate.
mmo's are the most fun for the money. there is always somthing to do.
To the original poster:You are making great generalizations concerning MMO communities. Sure if you play WoW or perhaps even Warhammer your going to find general spam full of morons. This may be the case with every game, albeit some more than others, but MMO's allow you to form communities and some MMO's have great ones! EverQuest anyone????!!! Besides if people annoy you just /ignore said person and move on. It's about forming interactions between people, but if you don't like to do that even then I suppose nothing is going to change your mind.

FEAR vs FEAR 2 - Comparson Shots

FEAR 1 by FAR, FEAR 2 is way too cartoony, just finished playing the demo and IT SUCKED!!
    true crime streets of LA
I don't like the stupid hud in fear 2.
This is pretty sad, we better get used to PC games being crappy ports from now on :(
at least post pics that are similar to each other. why not include some bullet holes and dead bodies from FEAR 2? thats like comparing an indoor shot from an outdoor shot and asking which looks better.

the HUD is cool, its different, it actually looks like your looking out of a facemask that a soldier would be wearing.
Fear 1. Not much for the style of FEAR 2.
I agree at least give us some similar looking screens. And to all the people saying it has a cartoony look, where is it at? I played through the demo and nothing looked cartoony at all, unless you consider rooms filled with blood and hanging bodies ''cartoony''. And the art direction is fine with me as well, little brighter then the first but that's cool world can't be all gloom and doom.
speaking of the gamma correction in FEAR 2, does FEAR 2 use Bloom? i dont think Bloom was around for the first FEAR. i know that makes everything illuminate. the ''cartoony'' look i believe is brought upon because of the HUD.
 I cant believe how many people actually think F.e.a.r. looks better then F.e.a.r. 2....:lol:It doesnt, at all. Play F.e.a.r. 2 then play F.e.a.r. and youll know what I mean. F.e.a.r. looks SO out of date.
Ok.. Serioulsy guys it is painfully odvious how much better looking FEAR 2 is to FEAR.. FEAR is around 4 to 5 years old.. Seriously give it a rest.. If you are this blind that FEAR is a better looking game than the second one, you need glasses.. Or a computer upgrade.

Assassins Creed PC problem, please help

I realize this is an old game at this point, but with the hype of AC2, I felt like I needed to try it out while it was only 10 bucks on steam.

Anyway, I downloaded this game from steam and it worked fine the first two days. I had gotten through a few hours of the game, and when I booted it up to play the third time it got an odd lag during the loading screens where it would skip. The loading screens to get in game also took much longer than normal. Then once in game, whenever the game has to load something, it would freeze for a bit, then finally catch up with itself. That means every time I go into combat, it freezes each time I kill someone, and when I initially move into the combat phase.

I was downloading a patch for a different game while I was playing this third time, but thats the only thing I found different. I tried restarting my comp and reinstalling the game, but neither fixed the problem.

If anyone has any info on this it would be much appreciated.Assassins Creed PC problem, please help
Do this. Exit your Antivirus software, then shut off your internet. Come back and tell me if it works. Assassins Creed PC problem, please help
Ok yeah, I forgot to mention that I did try turning off my anti-virus after searching for a fix on the web.

That didn't help, but I didn't disconnect the internet, so I guess I'll try that as well next time. I'm at work, so I won't be able to test it for a while.

    thanks though!
Sounds like a performance problem. Either your PC doesn't have the right specs or there's a heavy program that you are running(could be a virus as well)
    specs:

    Intel Q6600

    Vista 64-Bit

    8GB DDR2 1066 ram

    Nvidia 9800 GX2

I'm pretty sure my rig should be able to run this fine, and it did for multiple hours, so I doubt it is that. Like I said I did have a patch downloading the first time I had this problem, but after that finished, it still had the problem, with no other programs running.

    thanks for quick responses
my best advise would be trying to reinstall your gfx drivers, I had some sort of similar problems with S.T.A.L.K.E.R CS, and spent a few days trying all things, untill I found out that my gfx drivers had become corrupted, could have spared myself for a whole lot of problems there -.-Also, if you ahve the 9800 series, I would seriously consider going back to the .82 drivers, instead of the .85 drivers, since those drivers seem to werck havoc on a great deal of 8800 and 9800 cards.
If you're going to try a different version of drivers, make sure to download Driver Sweeper as well :)
Same thing happened to me disconnect your internet it runs perfectly fine
I am having the same problems. Makes me wanna put down the game right now. :(
The cure is to disconnect the internet because of some spy problem or something like that from what I've heard.
I actually got the game running fine wth Steam in offline mode :) so I'm happy now.
    Called it.. woo!
weird, i am having the same issue, and can't figure it out, but i am not using steam.

    Space Ship Design Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a game that is NOT an MMO (i am not paying monthly charges) that allows you to build a space ship? Or able to costumize your ships looks?Been unsuccessful in my travels and hoping someone might have come across one some where. ThanksDWSpace Ship Design Recommendation
Didn't homeworld have some sort of custimisation for its ships? Although its a strategy game.Space Ship Design Recommendation
Spore will allow you to customise it to full extent. As for any current games none come to mind.
unfortunalty homeworld did not, great game though... The ability to create your own ships for a Home World like game is exactly what i would be looking for.And i am hoping spore will fill the void a bit.. But who knows when that will be out.. they keep changing there dates.. Was thinking of trying EVE, but i am not a fan of monthly cost. Thanks for the ideas though..
DarkStar One is the first game that came to mind. You fly the same ship the entire game, but you can level up it's various systems which changes its physical appearance and abilities.

    Galactic Civilizations II I guess
If you just want to build spaceships I guess GalCiv2 could also work, it's a turn-based strategy game so you won't get to fly them, but you can create pretty much any kind of ship you want especially if you get some bonus parts for the game.
I believe Shattered Suns, a RTS coming out May 30, is supposed to be just what you're looking for.http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/shatteredsuns/index.html''Design your own space ships and stations to take on enemies when their planets orbit within range.''
X3 Reunion later on in the game when you get your own player base your able to build and customize ships from the ground up.
Starship creator 1 %26 2, 2's ships can be used on Bridge Commander game if I remember correctly. Yes they are Star Trek, and yes they are kinda old, but there was some fun to be had...
X3 and Independence War 2 come to mind.
I think you like battleships forever i't lets you 100% customs ships then fight them to the end! You get to pick out the parts thats can be blown up 1 by 1 so it pays to make good ships place guns, shields plus a lot more. if your smart you can even add your own pieces to build with! link: http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/1425

Which game should I get? And should I get it retail or digital?Should I get Sims 3 or dawn of war 2 for pc? I'm not sure which one.
I don't give a rats behind about the Sims. If you are a big fan of DOW 1, note that DOW 2 is VERY different - and a lot of fans don't like it. If you are one to actually like Sims, then I would go that route for now.Nothing wrong with digital distribution. I prefer it.Should I get Sims 3 or dawn of war 2 for pc? I'm not sure which one.
Get Dawn of War 2 on retail. But it all depends on what you're felling for.
DoW 2 retail version. But it really depends on what you want. Strategy or Simulation.
It really depends upon your taste, whether you like strategy games or simulation games.

I would buy Sims 3 by the way.....
I'm just not a sims person, DoW 2
Theres no reason to get the retail version of DoW2 unless you really want the box or want to save on downloading, as it has to be registered through steam anyway.

Retail is cheaper. Why would you want to spend $50.00 on Steam when you can get it for as low as $30.00 retail.
Well thank for the suggestions. I ended up getting Dawn of War 2, and will be opening and playing it tomorrow.

    Best Multiplayer Shooter for PC

TF2, L4D, Quake Live, and *shudder* CoD4. Seeing how you are already saving up for MW2 for PS3, probably not CoD4 (not that it is anything special anyways).Best Multiplayer Shooter for PC
I have no idea what MW2 or WW are but... TF2 is pretty fun as far as online shooters go. L4D is good, or you can try kililng floor too (those two if you like zombie shooters). They're co-op though not vs. Not counting the vs mode on L4D.Otherwise its just the normal stuff that you probably have on PS3 anyway like CoD etc etc.

If i recall i don't remember hearing anyone saying that Laptops were made primarily to play games first and do everything else second. If they did say anything it was probably the other way around. I mean even the PC wasn't originally designed to primarily play video games (or play them at all). Now developers of games and laptops come to understand that through the years the PC has been made to play video games just as much as do everything else. They know that so when they make laptops they understand that they arn't supposed to be making the ultimate gaming machine becauase the PC already has that covered.
Your last statement is soo wrong. They shouldn't use a netbook as the bare minimum and complaining about that is selfish and fundamentally wrong on several levels. If you buy a netbook you don't buy it to play games, plain and simple. However i have one myself with intel gma950 and they're capable of playing the odd games, ive got these to work and are actually playable;Zombies v plantsCrayon physics deluxeOpen ttdWarcraft 3Fallout 2PlanescapeWorld of gooYou should try older games or simple games, anything new and 3d is an obvious no-go, not that you'd have much enjoyment playing with a tiny keyboard, screen etc.

(went to wikipedia though to catch up on what I missed though...omg, sooo deep of a story lol) oh and p.s. probably the most ungodliest hardest game I have ever played...the final mission which theoretically could take 15 minutes took me 2 hours...my god NPC's can 1-shot you, and fighting 7+ npc's in small corridors that all can potentially kill you in .5 seconds. Man that sucked hard.

Neverwinter Nights 2 + Mask of the Betrayer are very good. Traditional old-school D%26D RPG like they are meant to be.For something completely different try Silent Storm GoldDefinitely play the Prince of Persia trilogy, if you haven't. Loads of fun thereOh...and Psychonauts is a game I didn't think would be my type at all. I played it for free on Gametap (you still can). It's very fun and very different. Nice change of pace game.

    Where is Episode 3?

I have been looking for information on Half Life 2 Episode 3 for a few days now but have found nothing. What's the deal? It has been a year and a half since Valve released the last game, and condidering these episodes are ~4 hours long and using a pre-existing engine, there is no excuse not to have something substantial by now. Even more concerning is the fact that they have no problem releasing a new Left 4 Dead so shortly after the last one came out.I'm pissed! Where's my Episode 3? :(/endrantWhere is Episode 3?

Half-Life 2 was released in 2004. It is now 2009. At this rate, it will take 7 years to finish the episodes...
Skip these stupid episodes and give us HALF-LIFE 3.
Half Life 3 will take 7 years to come out, then they will release Half Life 4 on the same engine as Half Life 3 less than a year later.
Eh, 5 years and basically got ''2/3'' of the game, better then not having them and waiting 2 more for the full thing? heh (Some might say they would rather have waited for the whole thing but, idk, I could picture a LOT of QQ'ing if none of the episodes had come out since HL2 and we were left in the dark)

I put a bowl that the bottom of is magnetic (I forgot it was magnetic) on my MacBook on the right of where the trackpad is, and now when I turn it on the Apple logo doesn't show it is just gray and it makes a metal crackling noise coming from on the right of the track pad, someone explain what I did to my MacBook!!!!!!I need help right now urgently
I'm assuming, like in most laptops, the HDD is next to the trackpad, so you probably killed your hard drive. You can get a new one for around $50, depending on size, but I have no idea how easy the MacBooks come apart in order to install it. Also, you'd be voiding your warranty, but you probably no longer have a warranty considering how the damage occurred.I need help right now urgently

    Oblivion vs Guild wars

What do you think is better? I don't want you to say crap like '' their totaly differant, you cant compare them.'' i just want to know what you like betterOblivion vs Guild wars
    guild wars

if you dont mind me asking, why are you comparing the two, and why do you not want to hear the truth?Oblivion vs Guild wars
DmadFearmonger, there is absolutely no point in this whole thread.

You are comparing a pvp-based MMORPG to one of the greatest solo-played RPG ever. Guild Wars would be at the very top if PlayNC and Arenanet would have bothered to keep updating the game enough. The expansions were all great, but after Eye Of The North it all collapsed. Probably half of the players left, even more.

Then we have the great The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Thousands of quests, items and areas to explore. Many plug-ins and expansions including Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. Still played alot around the world, but it's not MMO.

So why compare these? They are from different genres and totally different gamestyles. You don't compare Counter Strike: Source to Fallout 3, do you?
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Thousands of quests
There are only about 200 quests in Oblivion. There are twice as many in Morrowind.

    But yeah, useless thread.
I have never played guild wars, but i know for sure that oblivion is dam good.

  • how to improve my rig with budget

Hello, all pc gamers. My computer spec is like this. 1.8ghz core 2 duo, 2gb memory, geforce8600gt. I have around $150 to spend, and want to know what kind of hardware would improve my computer the most. Would buying a video card better than a better processor? If yes, what kind of video card should i buy? Thank you.how to improve my rig with budget
DEFINITELY GPU!! For 110$ you can get 40nm hd4770 and when you have more money available crossfire it(if motherboard supports). 8600 gt is not that bad. If you are a casual gamer you can save it until 40nm is common amongst gpus. Also 2 gig ram may not be sufficient for big maps.(32 bit supports up to 3.25 gigs of ram btw)

  • Is Planescape Torment the best RPG ever made?

If so, why?Is Planescape Torment the best RPG ever made?
No. Fallout 2 is. Is Planescape Torment the best RPG ever made?
    The story.
Not just the best RPG ever made, the best game ever DESIGNED.
No. Fallout 2 is.
While Fallout 2 was utterly brilliant, it's still only second best to Torment. :P
Not just the best RPG ever made, the best game ever DESIGNED.
true true !!!
If Torment was remade with FULL voice acting (the most important part for me in an RPG, I'm playing a game not a book), cinematic and emotional cutscenes like in MGS and Mass Effect (IMO Mass Effect is the best RPG ever just because of how much cinematic and emotional the story is), view like in NwN 2 (and of course 3d graphics) and was made a bit longer THEN it would be the best RPG ever made, but in this state it's not even even in my TOP 5 RPGs of all time nor is any older RPG that doesn't have (or has only a little) voice acting
definitely one of the top 5.1. bg22. fallout3. fallout 24. ultima 75. planescape: torment
I'd call it a close second to Fallout.
It was fantastic, but I enjoyed Morrowind more.
I miss that floating skull head. :)
For me, I always include Torment as a sub-variation of Baldur's Gate, which is on my top 3. I feel that no matter if you prefer 1 or the other, they are a different part of the same global thing. The modron is definitely nice, and Fall-from-Grace is not without interest, remind me a girl who wouldn't understand what NO means. :P Top 1 is on the left (GOLD BOXES). :) The other great thing is City of Villains, despite all the flaws, the poor balancing, the nerfs in the name of balancing (which worsen the balancing issues, never even remotedly solve anything), the MMO component allows you to play with real peoples, which is definitely nice.

Yes, reading is quite a challenging feat to accomplish, isn't it?
No, I read books (about 1 per month), but I want games to be more like movies (that's why my all-time favourite game is Metal Gear Solid 1). Besides reading a book in a monitor is hard and stupid. When I play older RPGs, at first I read the text, but after an hour it gets boring and I skip most of the text and I can't play older RPGs for more than 2 straight hours while in newer RPGs in my first playthrough I play them for 8 straight hours and still want more (I have to sleep sometime you know). I Barely managed to finsih NwN 1, Fallout series and Torment because they got boring after an hour or 2 because of the text (never actually finished Baldur's Gate and IceWind Dale, I'll wait for the NwN 2 modules remakes). And all that RTS view is just stupid, most of the time I can't notice some doorsFor me, older RPGs aren't in the least bit addictive and wouldn't play them a second time (Torment is an exeption)
While it is not a PC RPG, Chrono Trigger must be in any conversation about the best RPG of all time.
Sixteen posts and not one mention of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines? For shame...
I honestly think Vampire Bloodlines: The Masquerade wasn't anything too special. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely atmospheric and had a pretty engrossing story, but I just think it isn't really that pinnacle of RPGs that I often see people make it out to be. I think that a big reason people tend to give it so much praise is because it was made by Troika.
While it is not a PC RPG, Chrono Trigger must be in any conversation about the best RPG of all time.
   Please don't insult the genre by calling J''RPGs'' role playing gamesJRPGs aren't real RPGs. They are action adventure games. There are no choices (in dialogue or quest, you can't choose be good or evil), no consequences, no customization( in most J''RPGs'' you can't choose your race and class and and every one of them you can't costumise your face), too linear... Where's the ROLE PLAYING in that ? I'm always forced to be the good guy!

In RPGs the character you are controlling is supposed to be like you (that's why it's called ROLE PLAYING)

I still like them, but they aren't RPGs

Japanese games have the most unoriginal and repetitive stories ever

In every last one of them it's: ''you killed my master or destroyed my village, now you want to conquer the world and I the girly virgin teenager that is afraid of girls and has huge eyes with my yu-gi-oh hair and my oversized blade will stop you''

Play Planescape: Torment, The Witcher or KOTOR and see what true role playing means

I think that a big reason people tend to give it so much praise is because it was made by Troika.
The reason I consider Bloodlines the best RPG ever made is because, amongst numerous other reasons, experience is only awarded for completing quests. And what this means is that there's a very strong focus on how you complete the quests. In just about all other RPGs I've played, you complete a quest by fighting your way to the end of it. There may be some options, but you're pretty much going to fight there and that's it.As an example, I may want to be a thief/assassin. Why, then, is that thief fighting enemies toe to toe? That's not how a thief would operate - in most cases, the thief would not fight at all. In Bloodlines, there's a number of ways each quest can be completed, and your own playstyle defers to that of your class. A stealthy character would literally be a stealthy character - you would not fight, except on rare occasion, and you would lose little or nothing in not fighting, because experience is earned through completing quests, and items are of little value. And, to me, that's what roleplaying is. Most RPGs totally miss this entire concept - but Troika seems to be one of the few - or only - developers to make games with actual roleplaying. Playing the game as a Gangrel, then a Malkavian, then a Nosferatu gives a radically different experience each time, while in all other roleplaying games I've played, the core experience is pretty much just the same, and the only thing that changes is how you fight your enemies. I didn't know who Troika was when I bought the game, and I wasn't a huge fan of RPGs - but Bloodlines made me realise that I wasn't very fond of the genre because so few were actually that good.

    WHY IS EVERYONE SO BLIND!

Read my last post showing what spec my laptop is.

I got that for 12 hundred dollars, 700 quid.

    Do you feel stupid?!

    Yes, yes you do.

The same specification desktop would have cost me 2,500 dollars, like you said the laptop would have costed.

It's not very hard finding amazing computers or laptops for low prices, you just need to look around.

Not everything amazing's found on dell.com or alienware.

And i can't imagine myself paying 400% worth the price of hardware for having SONY written on the side, it's not worth crap.

Also, '...can be continually upgraded with new graphics cards...' etc etc.

Then why does everyone tell me to buy a new computer? XD

Cos: my old pc failed, yet it could play most of todays games (for reasons i don't quite understand, maybe it was in trance.)

(if i sounded like i was flaming in my last post: i aplogise, i just stepped on a lego by accident, lol)

What are you smoking? far from it.

You're buying a normal laptop and you're recommending high priced ones like Alienware that are comparable to MACs? Not every PC is a MAC, Dell, etc. And FYI a PC with similar hardware, with a 22' LCD monitor and 1tb HDD, would cost around 900-1000$ , so what 2.5K$? stop getting ''facts'' out of nowhere.

    I applaud you .
Lol, yeah it does :/

I'm using a 12-cell ion battery, so i can use it for around 3-5 hours without an adapter in, so i guess it don't fail that much XD

    Burnout paradise problem

Yesterday i bought Burnout paradise, and now it says;Could not find a copy of burnout paradise installed. You may need to reinstall your copy of burnout paradise. And when i'm trying to uninstall it aren't loading...that blue-thing are staying on the same spot the whole time.Burnout paradise problem
i know that it takes a long time to uninstall, well it did for me anyhow.Burnout paradise problem
k wait, let me get this straight. You just bought Paradise, you've never had it installed on your pc and its asking you to uninstall it? It should be asking you to install it.
I installed it, and now it was **** up. I broke the law by downloading some file called .exe, the one that ''starts the game''. And copied it to C:\Program Files\My Games\Burnout Paradise. Viola, it worked :D But i can't really think of it as illegeal, as i anyway had bought the game and downloaded .exe to make it work. But that happened when my sister bought some game at the same store, it didn't work. My dad downloaded (I remember he said something about .exe) and copied it to the install folder.
Took me years (Okay, 10 minutes, but it took longer time than crysis, strange enough.)

Any games out there similar to the Battlefield series?

I love the fps games where you don't have to follow a linear story line. The Battlefield series and stuff like Star Wars battlefront can all simulate a random little battle for you to play, either against AI or online. Are there any other games out there like that? Also, low system specs are a plus. Thanks allAny games out there similar to the Battlefield series?
No need to double post mate.Any games out there similar to the Battlefield series?
    Joint Operation.
    Joint Operations is dead
Project Reality Mod for BF2this mod is outstanding, the realism never ceases to amaze me
crysis multiplayer is based on battlefield series, and is one of the most underated multiplayer games IMO. 32 player max instead of 64, but still huge maps, long games and I think it is like 10 times better. best mode is power struggle: you have your air or warfactories which you capture and buy and build airplanes/tanks, and proto factory for making nuclear/alien weapons used to destroy enemy base and win the game. not many people play original crysis anymore but with crysis: warhead you get a new version of multiplayer called crysis: wars which probably has alot more people playing.
quake wars is decent, and very similar, there is also some game modes in the UT games, that offers that. And ofcourse there is Natural Selection (HL1 mod) with its own game comming out soon.

    Feedback on Killing Floor

I have had my eye on this game since steam had announced its release, has anyone played it? Is it worth buying?Feedback on Killing Floor
To me, it seems like a cheaper version of L4D.Feedback on Killing Floor
To me, it seems like a cheaper version of L4D.
right, but i have also heard that its game play and what not is different. I love L4D, am just trying to figure out if this is worth it. :P
Killing Floor is a great game but just becouse its about zombies you should not compare it to L4D. Its different Id say its more oldshool like an arcade shooter. There are alot of weapons and chopping of a zombies head with an axe is fun. The guns are designed very well and feel powerful although the Bulpup is a bit underwealming. In the game you have to survive waves of zombies that get increasingly harder. The subsequent waves have more zombies to kill and more special zombies. The games last wave is a battle with an uber powerful minigun and rocket launcher wielding Patriarch. I think there are about 8 zombies types. The game works well and looks good...except for the flashlights. Overall its a good game that will have lots of custom maps in the future.
To me, it seems like a cheaper version of L4D.
Well i guess you dont know what your talking about then, seeing as how tehres is zero things in common, except for the fact that tehres ''zombies''

Thanks for the mini review - A++
It's a fun game, worth buying yeah. The gameplay is surprisingly fast and hectic considering how slow a lot of the zombies move, and you really need to work with your team for the harder zombies as well as the harder difficulty levels. The maps are all fun, and there are a bunch of interesting custom maps that have been released as well (and some of those are incredibly difficult). The game's easy to get into/pick-up and play, the weapons feel great and there's a large variety. If you want to make a L4D comparison, I played through the campaign of that ONCE, and played it once or twice more, and that was it.. Ive easily put double the hours or more into KF since it came out, just because the gameplay is so much more interesting.

wat da eff???he just said download it **** himyou pirate....
RPG games are just like PIN numbers and ATM machines.

    /facepalm
Knights of the old republic, Fallout 2 and 3, Elderscrolls Oblivion and Morrowind, Mass Effect, Diablo 2,
Oblivion with modes will have you busy for many many months.
Alot of the ones mentioned are available online, so give him the benefit of the doubt. All the ones mentioned so far plus Gothic 3 and the community patch. If you want the easiest to get into first, get Fallout 3 for single player or Drakensang for team play. I think NWN2 with MOTB is better than Drakensang, but it's certainly more frustrating too.
ok guys thanks a lot....em i wanna ask somethink....fable is not for pc?
ok guys thanks a lot....em i wanna ask somethink....fable is not for pc?
Fable 1 was released on the PC as a special extended version called Fable: The Lost Chapters. It's worth a play. Fable 2 has not been released on PC, but we expect it eventually will come to PC.Note: I have not seen Fable TLC available for digital distribution. I assume by download that you intend to pay for it on a a digital distribution site. If you mean something else, then...well...I don't want anything to do with you.
    thanks again:)
You can buy old RPG like Fallout 1-2 off GOG.com.
