Dawn of War 2.What is the best RTS game within the past 5 years
Dawn Of War + Winter Assault + Dark Crusade. I like Soulstorm too, but some people think that the las expansion was mediocre. Take in consideration that the original DoW campaign was good -or at least decent-, but in the expansions the storytelling is very poor. But I like DoW even more than Starcraft because the multiplayer. The game is great from a gameplay standpoint. I has very dynamic units, capable of auto-reinforce on fly the dead members of the squads without the need of regroup in your headquarters. It has a moral system, the enviroments has impact in how your units figths. The infantry/vehicles/buildings system is balanced; you have tons of units with teleport, stealth, etc. The game demands a nice micro, is very focused on action, whereas the macro is more simple. The ''Heroes'' are a complement to your forces: they are not a need, and they upgrade his stats with the tiers of your HQ, not fighting npjs as in Warcraft III.

Ummm no. Especially considering how similar it is to CoH
The best RTS would have to be the original Dawn of War and its expansions.

I liked CoH better. But I havent heard much talk about DoW 1 previously. Would about WiC, Rise of Nations, Supreme Commander, etc.
For me:Empire:Total War(despite the bugs) %26 C%26C:Red Alert.Everything that interests you about RTS games you can say here.
Dawn of War 2.
Barely even an RTS. Its single player just flat out isn't an RTS, its multiplayer saves it.
I would say either Supreme Commander, Sins of a Solar Empire or perhaps Command and Conquer 3: Kanes Wrath, but you would need to but the PC version of TW for that last one.
For me, there is no single best RTS...only great games that I have a lot of fun with. For that list (excluding the ones you have now said you already have):
- World in Conflict
- Sins of a Solar Empire
- Supreme Commander Gold
- Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends
- Age of Mythology Gold
- Demigod
- Red Alert 3
- Spore
Within the last 5 years I would have to say Dawn of War up to DC, Dawn of War 2 and Sins.

The multiplayer is great and the tactical aid is amazingly fun to play with. You'll be like ''WOW! That nuke is soooooo cool... ****! I was just nuked and lost all my units!'' I'd really only get the game if you can run it well and enjoy all the small graphical details.Supreme Commander - I didn't really like SupCom's multiplayer, but that's just because GPGnet is junk. It took me almost an hour to update. Forged Alliance has a decent singleplayer, but the skirmishes are really where the game is at. The AI isn't 'that' challenging, but you can set it up so that it's a 1v2 or a 1v7. Some people complain about how the economy is handled, but I really like it. If you manage your metal well then you are definitely rewarded. There's also no limit to how much energy/metal you recieve, so you can do anything from hold a corner of the map against waves and waves of attacks or expand until you can build experimental units left and right.(UGH!, I keep having to edit my posts because gamespot randomly gets rid of spaces...)

I found both those games to have to be painfully boring SP.
Medieval 2 Total War.

I never said that its SP isn't good, I just said that its not an RTS. I prefer DoW2's SP to SC. Not to C%26C3 though, I actually thought its campaigns were fun up till the Scrin one.
A little game called Company of Heroes.

My mistake. :x In this case, I recommend;
~ Dawn of War games (through to Dark Crusade)
~ Red Alert 3
~ Supreme Commander if you want a game with scale
~ World in Conflict, although not strictly Real Time Strategy.
If you want more Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts is a good game to go for.

Additionally, from what I've heard (and read), Tales of Valor doesn't add a whole lot...but it presents what it does add really well.Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention Universe at War.
- Company Of Heroes- Age Of Empires 3- Empire Total Warand- DemigodIn my opinion of course.
World in Conflict, action RTS done right
Supreme Commander, good old fashioned RTS but on a huge scale
Red Alert 2, just a great RTS
Age of Empires 3, not amazing but worth it if you can find it for a good price
