Help remembering game

Im trying to remember a space sim. You had control of one ship, but could upgrade it as the game went along. It was a blend of strategy and action, played a bitlike Homeworld, but again with not so many units, though your ship could send out small squads. It had a decent story and almost felt like Star Trek. All I got. Trying to pick this one up cause I remember really enjoying it, its relatively recent.Help remembering game
Sounds like Dark Star OneHelp remembering game
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident?

Bingo. Thank you sir.
Lol nexus isn't recent and dark star one is ok. You shhould try freelancer and space force rogue universe.

Sure, they all take place in space and they involve ships exploding, but other than that, they are vastly different. It's like asking for a game like Fallout 2 and getting responses of Command and Conquer: Generals (the point being that they both take place on Earth and involve shooting things by clicking on them, but have nothing other than those two little details in common).EDIT - BTW, forgot to point this out: one of the games you are suggesting (Freelancer) is 2 years older than N: TJI. That's even less recent than the game you are criticizing for not being recent.
I mention those games incase he/she wants to know other space games. Hegemonia: legions of iron and genesis rising check those games out also.

Especially since it basically does what Sins of a Solar Empire does, except Hegemonia actually did it seven (that's 7) years earlier.
Ill look around for those other ones. Thanks again :)
The other two space games I will try to describe them.

One has you building around the planet and it has 3 races. You hav heroes that can command battleships, corvetts, dreadnaunts.

The other game starts with a G or i, you build inside planets, there r 3 races I think.

I'm too lazy to search this site but I think the games r called imperial galtica 3 and conquest frontier wars. Tha hell with spell check for now..

In fact, it feels a LOT like if you combined Starcraft (Terran, insect-like alien, hyper-advanced energy-based aliens) with Wing Commander.
